Indoor Sports Flooring for Singapore Courts and Halls

Indoor sports flooring is the base on which all court line marking sits. We install indoor sports floors where the substrate, finish and coating system will support clean, durable line marking for the games being played.

Indoor sports courts are now common in many residential developments, schools, sports organisations and commercial recreational facilities in Singapore. The flooring beneath the game lines is part of the safety and performance of the court. The right floor for the activity, combined with proper installation, helps keep the surface playable and line markings legible over time.

Indoor sports floor categories we install

Gym flooring

Gym floors take repeated heavy loads from dropped weights, machines on castors and high foot traffic. Common choices include heavy-duty rubber rolls, rubber tiles, vulcanised rubber and dedicated weightlifting platforms. We discuss the planned activities, equipment layout and budget with the client before specifying. Where line marking is needed — for example for functional training zones or platform boundaries — the line paint or tape is selected for the rubber surface in question.

Synthetic playground tiles and indoor play flooring

Synthetic interlocking tiles are widely used for indoor play and small sports areas. They install quickly over existing flat substrates, are easy to replace if damaged and accept printed or painted markings, including hopscotch grids and number trails. For hopscotch dimensions we use in school settings, see our school play-area markings article.

Indoor timber sports flooring

Timber sports flooring is the traditional surface for indoor basketball, badminton, volleyball and multi-purpose hall use. Properly installed timber gives consistent ball rebound, controlled shock absorption and a clean substrate for line painting. The line paint is applied between the sealer and the final polyurethane finish so that the lines are protected by the topcoat.

How we prepare an indoor floor for line marking

  1. Inspect the substrate. For timber, we check for hollow boards, loose nails and any moisture issues. For synthetic and tiled floors, we check seams, edge transitions and curing of any new adhesive.
  2. Clean the surface, removing dust, debris and any factory residue.
  3. Sand or screen timber lightly so that the sealer and line paint bond cleanly. See our floor polish and sanding service.
  4. Tape out the games to be marked, using one game as the primary layout and overlaying the others in different colours.
  5. Apply line paint in two coats, sealing with the appropriate finish for the substrate.

Quotation and installation

Each indoor sports flooring quote begins with a site visit to measure the area, check the substrate and confirm the intended use. We then recommend a flooring system and line marking scope that fits the available budget and the games to be hosted. For maintenance of existing indoor floors, see our flooring maintenance service.
