Running and Jogging Track Marking in Singapore
Lane marking turns a flat track into a structured training surface. We mark lane lines, start lines, finish lines, hurdle positions and lane numbers on running and jogging tracks for schools, condominiums and recreational venues.
Running and jogging tracks benefit from clean, accurate line markings. Without them, runners do not know where their lane ends, where to start and finish, or where to begin a relay exchange. Even a recreational jogging loop becomes easier to use when the lanes, distance markers and key reference points are clearly painted.
Marking scope
- Lane lines — straight and curved lane separations, typically using a 5 cm white line on dark or coloured tracks.
- Start and finish lines — clearly painted, often in a contrasting colour, and positioned per the agreed track length (200 m, 300 m, 400 m or custom recreational loops).
- Hurdle marks — discrete marks where hurdles are placed, allowing accurate setup for training.
- Lane numbers — stencilled numerals at the start of each lane.
- Distance markers — every 50 m or 100 m for jogging tracks where regular checkpoint marks help users gauge their pace.
- Exchange zones — for relay practice where required.
Track surfaces we mark on
Common surfaces in Singapore are polyurethane synthetic running tracks, EPDM rubber tracks, asphalt jogging paths and concrete promenade-style loops. Each surface needs an appropriate line paint:
- Synthetic polyurethane tracks accept polyurethane line paints that bond to the running surface without sealing it.
- EPDM rubber tracks are typically marked with line paint compatible with the rubber binder.
- Asphalt and concrete jogging paths are normally marked with an acrylic sports court coating with non-skid aggregate before line painting, or with road-marking paint where the loop is a hard-surface walkway.
Why properly marked tracks matter
A clearly marked track helps users hold their lane, monitor lap progress and use the track safely. For school athletics meets, the lane layout has to be consistent and reliable so that times taken on the track remain comparable. For training, the marks help athletes plan interval workouts and hurdle layouts without re-measuring each session.
Repainting worn track lines
Most jobs are repaint and refresh on existing tracks, not new track installation. We assess wear on the existing lines, confirm that the running surface itself is sound, and repaint over the existing layout. Where the underlying coating is also worn, we recommend a coating refresh first so that the new line paint adheres properly. See our repair and repainting service.
