Sports Court Repair and Repainting
Court lines fade and coatings wear over time. We assess the existing surface, repair what is needed, recoat where required and repaint the line markings so the court is ready for safe play.
Most courts in Singapore need a refresh long before they need replacement. The coating wears, line markings fade in high-use zones and small substrate cracks need attention before they grow. Repair and repainting is usually the most cost-effective option when the court is structurally sound but visually and functionally tired.
What we assess first
- Substrate condition: cracks, levelness, drainage on outdoor courts, hollow boards on timber, lifting tiles on synthetic.
- Existing coating: still well-bonded or flaking? Pressure-washable or needs removal?
- Line marking wear: faded lines, peeling lines or lines that have been overcoated by patch repairs.
- Surface contamination: algae, grease, oil staining.
- Moisture content of concrete substrate for outdoor courts — typically a target below 6% before applying acrylic sports floor coatings.
Repair scope
- Concrete crack routing and filling, levelling of localised low spots.
- Timber board replacement and re-anchoring of loose boards before resanding.
- Re-fixing of lifted synthetic tiles and seam reseal.
- Algae and grease treatment, followed by pressure washing.
Repainting workflow
- Pressure wash the existing surface to remove loose coating, dirt and algae.
- Apply a tie-coat or sealer compatible with the existing acrylic system on outdoor concrete or asphalt courts. New concrete typically needs a 21-day minimum cure before the first sealer goes down.
- Apply the base coating (or coloured court coating with non-skid aggregate) in two coats.
- Set out and mark game lines using stencil or taping for each game, in contrasting colours.
- Apply line paint in two coats for durability and final visibility check.
How long it takes
A simple line-repaint over a sound existing coating can be completed in a single weekend window for a standard court. A full repaint with substrate repair, multiple coats of sports coating and several games marked typically needs a longer site possession with planned drying time between coats. We agree the schedule with the building owner or facility manager so play can resume cleanly.
Coatings we use
Material choice follows the substrate and game type. Outdoor courts typically use water-based acrylic sports coatings with non-skid aggregate. Indoor timber courts use sealers and finishes appropriate to the floor system. Industrial back-of-house areas may use heavy-duty floor tape or epoxy line paint. See our resources on sports floor coating selection and surface preparation.
For an indicative repaint quote, send us recent photos of the existing surface, the games to be marked and the approximate dimensions, then we will arrange a site visit and a written quotation.
